The Orthopaedic Summer Research Program at the Orthopaedic Foundation is designed for Medical and College Students with an interest in the field of medicine to gain exposure into clinical research in orthopaedics and sports medicine. The 8-week program is under the leadership of an orthopaedic surgeon as well as the Research Director. We currently have projects in the areas of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, unicompartmental knee replacement, arthroscopic repair of anterior shoulder instability, and suprascapular nerve. Students will gain experience in clinical trial administration, conducting literature reviews to define concepts and design potential research studies, patient recruitment and follow-up, data collection and entry, basic statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation. Potential experiences as part of the internship program include journal club, weekly lecture series, and cadaveric dissection.

There are 2 available graduate research internships for the Summer of 2017 under the leadership of Dr. Kevin Plancher and Dr. Stephanie Petterson. For any questions or to apply to the program, please contact Dr. Petterson, Director of Research, at spetterson@ofals.org. All applications must be submitted by March 31, 2017.
